And in 2015, the Trail it expanded and has been renamed the JoCo Beer, Wine, and Shine Trail to include our new breweries and distilleries in Johnston County. North Carolina Mountains to Sea Trail - North Carolina’s premier hiking trail. It stretches 1000 miles from the Great Smoky Mountains to the Outer Banks stopping at many of North Carolina’s most beautiful places along the way.

Rails to Trails Maps - Triangle Rails to Trails Conservancy (TRTC) is a state chartered non-profit, organization that works with the local and state government to preserve local abandoned railroad corridors for future transportation and other interim uses such as recreational trails. Their trails include American Tobacco Trail (through Durham, Chatham and Wake Counties) and the Eagle Spur Trail. They also have links on their website to other rail trails and projects of possible interest to trail users in NC and around the country.

North Carolina Birding Trail - The NCBT is a partnership between six founding organizations:the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, Audubon North Carolina, North Carolina Sea Grant, US Fish & Wildlife Service, NC State University Cooperative Extension,and the NC Parks and Recreation. From our vast coastline to our high mountain peaks, North Carolina is home to a diversity of habitats that support hundreds of species of birds and other wildlife. Our unique geographic setting along the Atlantic coast flyway provides both breeding and wintering grounds for many birds, making North Carolina a premiere birding destination. Yet this rich natural heritage is largely untapped as an economic resource for promoting nature-based tourism. The North Carolina Birding Trail (NCBT) will establish North Carolina as a leading nature-based tourism destination.
